Burger Strips / Steak Strips Alternative - MeatLess Farm Steak (and Black Bean Tacos)

Hey guys!

Continuing with my meat alternative recommendations, and focusing on some brands that do great alternatives that you can mix and match within your own recipes, I wanted to focus on a steak alternative so I used the Meatless Farm Burgers, and chopped them up into chunky strips of a sort of beefy steak alternative.

For this series I’m not focusing on the recipes, as much as I’m sharing what meat alternatives work for me and can be switched in and out of your favourite dishes. Now I was looking into a beef and black beat taco recipe and I thought, that sounds amazing but what can I use? Because I’ve shared loads of Quorn recipes which I love, but I wanted a new texture and Meatless Farm is basically a great burger choice and I thought, let’s try this slightly differently and chop the burgers up into steak strips! Voila!

So I didn’t want the burgers to disintegrate so I actually panfried them til they were fully brown all over, and added some seasoning. I used some Cajun spices, salt, chives and cooked in a dairy free butter by the brand Pure. Then I began to layer in more flavour with tomato, thyme, chilli, thyme and chipotle. Then I began to reduce the sauce down into a gravy, by adding some flour and water and stock. Then I added the black beans, some celery, red onions and it was insane. Truly delicious.

I wanted to serve with some Green Bee honey cooked corn on the cob, which I just mixed in a pan with some water and vegan butter. Then I made some kale chips but go for nachos if you fancy, I used roast pepper salsa which I had made the day before and some vegan cheese.

Serve with some lime in a bowl, and some dried chives. So amazing and a fun way to use burgers that you love, in a different way to create that steak like dish.

Let me know what you think of this one at home, if you like I can write up the full recipe for the meal as opposed to a focus on the type of meat alternative.
