GIVEBACK
MY NON PROFIT WORK
In the last ten years it’s been a priority for me to partner with non profits that give back authentically to causes that I have directly experienced, connected with or have empathy for. I have been a Princes Trust ambassador for several years because my first guidance on how to form a business plan was on their enterprise scheme, and being one of the first trans people at the awards and in their campaigns has been an awesome achievement. I created a young people focused campaign for Ditch the Label that showed the pressures young people face to conform to societal standards based on data provided by the org.
I work with all kinds of LGBT charities, from doing the Glossy Box LGBT Switchboard campaign, to having a donation of £50,000 to Mermaids with my MAC Cosmetics collection, and supporting events for MIND OUT. Part of my work with Jecca Blac included pitching the concept of a trans focused festival that celebrated the diversity of the trans community.
I have created an award winning campaign with Google x United Nations, called Little by Little, created recipes for the World Food Programme. Veganuary was one of the most exciting partnerships for me, because it didn’t focus on the shocking images you see in some animal rights campaigns, it really focused on showing the positive side of becoming vegan from the environmental issues to the fabulous health benefits.
My three big causes are supporting Young People enter into business safely, LGBT Support, including mental health support and workplace equality, and Environmentalism which focuses on veganism, ocean clean up, sustainability within product and design, animal rights and coming up with long term strategies to reduce waste.
I have now raised well over six figures in terms of fund raising, and strive to continue to make positive changes going forward.
