Learning Flower Arranging

Hey guys!

One of the skills I wanted to share on Agitprop is my love of flower arranging, I think you guys have got the memo now that I love nature and plants, but I really love flowers.

So the first thing you need to do is to choose flowers that. go together visually and most importantly that last. Tulips die fast, roses die relatively fast, lilies are great but if you’re mixing them with other flowers they can sometimes dry out before they bloom, so it’s basically a tricky art form that you learn from experience.

What I do, is I trim the excess leaves, any leaves that enter the water of the vase will rot and go stagnant, so get rid of the leaves. Then cut the flowers to the same length, so lilies are long, the pussy willows are super long. Then you lay everything out on the floor and you get the type of flower with the least amount of stalks in. So let’s say the lily, you have four stalks here. You then grab one stalk, you grab a quarter of the carnations, a quarter of the roses and the willows, and you have a mini assortment. Add that to the vase. Then repeat that, so that you’re not trying to create some ridiculous art piece that never comes together. This way it’s foolproof and you should get an amazing array.

Choose a vase that has an opening that can allow the flowers to spray comofrtably and not look visibly overcrowded, make sure it’s tall enough for the length you cut, and voila. You can use your plant food straight away and top up in a week, and enjoy!
