Non Toxic Products + a Healthy Environment For Queer People

Hey guys!

I wanted to give you a bit of a fun campaign I got to work on recently with Method cleaning products! I was invited to their night of Drag, which featured a lot of the best queens we have from some of the girls from Manchester who do the Drag U style show on C4, with Meth who I’ve worked within Scotland and is lovely! Loads of cool people who did a great cabaret-style show. Method partnered with the LGBT Foundation, which offers support and a lot of resources for LGBT from handing out contraceptives and so on. We’ve been speaking about some work they’re doing with businesses and I might be touch base on that at a later date.

I wanted to bring attention to this campaign because I often consult about LGBT inclusivity in a different area of work, but I very often miss stating the obvious - that including people as a sales gimmick is not productive. If something is trending, it’s gonna sell for you anyway, drag race has a mainstream promotional machine behind it so anything attached to that wave will be more visible today. That’s one thing, then there’s finding a range of drag kings and queens who are not hugely visible in the same sense as a mainstream tv show is, giving them a full campaign across billboards, with a charity and working with trans people behind the scenes like myself with some fees that reflect the quality of work provided.

A job well done!

So Method is a really fab brand for a lot of reasons, they’re an eco brand and something I’ve always used in my household because they’re non-toxic products. They’re fine around my niece and they’re reasonably accessible, they’re not one of these awesome brands you have to buy in bulk online, you can grab them from supermarkets. They’re also really delicious smelling, so when I was doing all the recipes I was usng the Rhubarb cleaner all the time to help with any grease or oil-based messsssses!

So they started the brand in 2000 which I think is symbolic of a new wave of awareness of toxic products, there are so many poisonous chemicals used in cleaning products that you completely overlook, I have hugely sensitive skin so even using soaps have dried my skin out in the past. You’ve gotta be really aware because your skin absorbs anything straight into. the body that it comes in contact with, it’s truly a sponge. The fumes are also an invisible toxin, we inhale a lot of nasty stuff without knowing it so this brand really puts awareness of these issues into their products and they have a range of amazing bits that keep your house smelling and looking clean. I have wooden floors and I use the floor cleaner, perhaps a bit abundantly paha, but it works amazingly. I love the smell and the shine of the finish after using the big squirty bottle.

So check them out and let me know your favs in the links below!
