Weekends at the Grand Brighton
Hey guys!
In the lockdown I was flummoxed by the lack of ability to travel to all my fabulous bookings I had organised for 2020, so I had to make do with my local hotspots so I checked out all the hotels in Brighton that I have yet to stay in, and the one that was super intriguing to me was the Grand Brighton.
I have never been to this hotel because if I was going to stay somewhere in Brighton it would be one of my houses, so I don’t have the inclination to look into these hotels unless I’m booked to do do makeup in a suite like at Hotel du Vin, or Malmaison, which I’ve enjoyed going to over the years. I think Brighton has more fun Air BNB’s than hotels, but the Grande has a reputation so I decided to find out for myself.
The building is super lovely, and I really enjoyed the architecture and the mouldings. For whatever reason in my mind, I thought it would be bigger inside than it was, but I visited the Cyan which was a new restaurant using sustainable and local ingredients, and sat in the tea room and grabbed some cocktails. The cocktails were great, but everything felt a little imposing. There was a very old fashioned stairway that spiralled d around the centre of the building to the various floors and rooms, and I checked out a few of the suites to feedback. They are just old fashioned and clean. I guess that’s the gist of what I can offer. I didn’t stay overnight and was generously allowed to experience them in a PR way, but the staff were great.
The amenities included room service and all the general things you would imagine for a 4 star, the staff at the foyer were extremely police and efficient and organised my taxi so all positives.
If you were looking for a classic experience in Brighton with the general amenities you’d expect, a great in house seafood restaurant and views of the sea, I think it’s a great recommendation. It’s not the most fabulous place you’ve ever been, the tea room is bright and I found quite loud because of the confined conservatory space. I’ve also been for drinks and a business meeting in the cocktail lounge at a later time which was lovely too.
1 Room for 2 Adults would cost £280-320 with the latter offering a Sea View.
Check it out if you’re in Brighton!
