Amazing Desserts at Cote Brighton Review

I wanted to check out another Brighton restaurant so we ventured to the lovely Cote Brasserie which is a French-themed gorgeous getaway tucked into the North Lanes. Cote is right next to one of my favourite ever restaurants Pompoko, which is a really cheap and cheerful, amazing Japanese street food place I’ve been going to since I was in school. But here we’re gonna focus on Cote. Now the photos are a bit limited and really dark because the time we went was at night, but you can definitely be reassured of the quality of the food and the gorgeous presentation.

So the food was yummy and they do some vegetarian options. It’s not that type of restaurant so there was a limited range of what we could grab if you were specific with your meal choices. I went for the late afternoon menu which was really reasonably priced, 2 courses for £11.95 and 3 for £14.50. I chose the 3 to get a starter, main and dessert. They also have a prestige meu which is about 4 pounds more.

I got the Mushroom Brioche which was the starter, it was basically a delicious mushroom sauce and some toasted bread so was great for me. My mum grabbed some of the onion soup with bread, she said it was really well prepared and really umami and delicious. The mains were more limited as there was only one vegetarian option and no vegan, there was a Baked Camembert which I definitely could recreate by using the sauce from any of my cheese substitutes and creating a bread bowl to encase it. Basically easy so check out maybe this recipe for more details. Finally, for Desserts, they had a list of Sorbets that were vegan and also berries. I grabbed the berries which were refreshing as I wanted something light. My mum grabbed the berry tart and ice cream which was so pretty I had to include it below.

We chose the They also add an optional gratuity to the bill of 12.5% which I never mention but is always useful for my American audiences, we don't have the same tipping system as the laws on restaurant workers are different here, you can't be paid that little so you tip only if the service is great or you are in a high-end restaurant. Mostly you round up your meal to the nearest 10 or so or if you're being complimentary you offer about 10% of the bill.

Would I recommend? Definitely a gorgeous place for a date, not a huge amount of vegan options but for the price, it’s super quality food for all different diets.
