The Fat Greek for Christmas

Hey everyone!

So this Christmas I cooked out as you can find out in my recipe series, but we also wanted to see my dad for some Greek food as we do several things around this time. I found this awesome restaurant outside of Brighton called the Fat Greek Taverna.

So I really wanted to give this place a JH review because I thought the idea of spending Christmas having Greek food was absolutely awesome, and unconventional. I also noted that they offered vegan food online, so we ventured there unknowingly during a renovation so we’d literally come the day before they were closing for the final touches, and they didn’t have the full range of food. We basically went through some of the gluten and dairy-free options that they had but I couldn’t give any proper feedback, other than the vegetarian food I did try like the hummus made of pimento beans was amazing, and the mango jam that accompanied my families halloumi popcorn was exceptional. We had a fun time and the whole place was decked out for Xmas so it was a great starter visit, can’t wait to come back and try some of the more traditional foods.

My family had some turkey burgers and fries, these were obviously not the goal for greek food but we got some chicken dippers for my niece. I chose to have a stuffed pepper with rice and some fries, there was some dips and an assortment of beers and cocktails on the menu.

I thought overall the food was nice, the starters and greek food we had tried was amazing, my family were not majorly keen on the burgers and noted that the turkey was the atlernative to the chicken that they didn’t have, so it wasn’t their first choice. But it was timing, it was all cooked and prepared nicely and there were really nice touches. It was an industrial sort of cafeteria feel mixed with these Christmasy elements so it was a cute event to go to.

Check out their dairy free food on their site and we’ll be popping back for another review.
