Green

Hey guys!

Here’s my green inspired look that was a really simplistic way of creating an homage to my clubby makeup days. I tied it into drag race at the time but there was absolutely no direct interpretation of Sharon Needles, I just got dem clickz honey! Here is the original inspiration video here.

Inspiration

I looked at the iconic videos of Robert Palmer when I was playing with red lip looks for me, because I found it extremely hard to balance my larger lip shape with a strong eye. I think the key is to trick the proportions into looking more closer together. When there is a lot of space around the eye, in a cut crease with a different lid colour and a brow bone, or even in a cat eye with an unmade up lower eye, it always looks a bit mismatched on me, my lower face dominates the look and I loose the sense of balance I always try and achieve.

If you transfer these images into black and white the whole eye area looks fully feline, as the green has an optical effect where it’s a different shade but it’s actually still full. Green is one of those colours used in black and white cinematography as well as blue, so always have a play with your base grey scale filters on your photoshop to see how things translate. It’s always a clever tool. It’s all about proportion. On me I do a full eye or I stick to a Marilyn look + keep it simple. I used to live for a red lip so I hope you guys enjoyed it as I never love a lot of makeup on me + yet this is one of my favourites.
